Oklahoma Restaurant Owner Offers Free Meal To Dumpster Diver

WARR ACRES, Okla. – The owner of a restaurant in Oklahoma has reportedly stepped up to offer a free meal after she noticed that someone had been going through their dumpster, likely looking for food.

Ashley Jiron, owner of P.B. Jams, said that she had noticed someone had been rummaging through their trash, specifically in food containers and that it appeared food had been taken out.

Here is the letter she posted on the can and on the door:

“That really, it hurt me that someone had to do that,” she told KFOR.

The idea of someone dumpster diving for food made her decide to take action, so she put up a sign in her window and another on the dumpster–offering a free meal for the person in need.

The note reads: “To the person going through our trash for their next meal, you’re a human being and worth more than a meal from the dumpster. Please come in during business hours for a classic Pb&j, fresh veggies, and a cup of water at no charge. No questions asked. – your friend, the owner.”
