1939 Nimbus Wood-chip-powered Motorcycle; Bio-char-Bikers' Dream

Categories: Mobility

This is a motorcycle that is fueled by a biomass gasifier. Heating biomass in a restricted supply of air produces an energy-rich gas that can be used to supply heat or to run engines.

The gas station isn't going to do any good in this instance.... I suppose keeping a saw handy to stop on the roadside and re-fuel is a good idea.

In case you're not familiar with biochar or biofuel, the concept is basically, you take wood and burn it so that it's black and get's all the moisture out.  It becomes wood charcoal.  That's what you put in this thing.  The moisture part of wood burning tends to gum up a motor with tar, and you don't want that.
