These Solar Powered Homes Use As Much Energy As They Produce

Categories: Green, Homes / Dwellings

With the way current electric prices are rising, it isn't long before we could be paying double our current electricity payment.  A swedish company, Street Monkey Architects have taken it personally and created an entire neighborhood they affectionately refer to as Power to the People;  a zero-energy housing complex in Upplands Vasby, Sweden.

The complex is filled with gabled solar-powered homes made from modular fabrication.  They aren't just solar powered, but they are beautiful too!  Made from a palette of wood, metal, and white painted surfaces.

Each home has the maximum number of solar panels allowed  by the municipality (20 panels) that are installed on the south facing roods.  These prefab units were completely sold out within two weeks of being put on the market.
