New Trend:Homes Sprouting Up Around Farms
Perhaps the term, “agrihood” will catch on in the American lexicon. Perhaps it won’t. But undoubtedly—with whatever name you want to give it—the spirit behind the term is here to stay. Developers around the nation are increasingly including farms as the centerpiece of their master plans. Clusters of homes surround (mostly organic) farms as a kind of “farm-to-fork” experience, with idyllic scenery, neighborly trails, and nice houses. Connecting community with their food source as part of the plan seems to be as good as peas and carrots.
A new trend is growing around the country: call it the "agrihood," in which suburban homes are built next to working farms. More than 200 homeowners in an Atlanta suburb are living adjacent to a 25-acre organic farm, making the journey from farm to table very short indeed. Mark Strassmann paid a visit to Serenbe.
