For a young inventor in Chile, going off the grid means saving a lot of money on utilities.

Manuel Mata is CEO of company Eli-Batt.  He has worked with the University of Chile to develop an intelligent lithium battery called Eli-Home.

They hope it revolutionizes clean energy consumption by allowing households to get off the traditional power grid and store excess energy.

″In reality your consumption is much more efficient, Much cheaper because the sun′s energy falls on everyone equally.  It′s free and it can be managed.″

This battery was designed to power your entire home. It can make, store, and supply its own energy.

It also charges itself and acts like an electric grid. It is called "Eli-Home."

Energy is captured and stored in solar panels, the system automatically turns on during power outages.

In case of emergencies, the portable system can easily be removed and installed in a new location.

It can also be monitored with a smartphone, the chilean company hopes the system will become a clean-energy power alternative.

They're looking for investors to bring the technology to everyone.
