Turn A Cat Food Can And An Ice Cream Lid Into An Ornament

So when I saw the ice cream lid setting on the counter, I thought that was a cool picture window for a project. I was suddenly hyperaware of all of the things we use in the kitchen that come with a little see-through plastic window. In hindsight, I would do it with something a little bigger next time, but for the sake of example, this will do.

The part that is missing from the video is when I glued the cat food can to the ice cream lid, and drilled the hole to run the Christmas light bulb through. Also, I looked for gold on the internet, and printed a piece of paper gold and cut it out to cover the Blue Bell logo on the lid. We could have chosen to paint it instead.

Then I found a graphic on the internet and printed it out.

And cut it out and put it inside the catfood can.  I also cut out stars to go around the outside rim.

I drilled a hole in the back of the can at the top so it could be put over a light of the tree.  I glued the front of the can to the Ice cream lid so the window has a view of the manger scene:

I'm hoping this idea helps you with your ideas!  Send me pictures of what you come up with!
